3GSM 2007 : Motorola to announce new Motorola Q smartphones for EDGE and HSDPA January 23, 2007 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. We are visiting 3GSM event - the biggest trade show and conference about mobile phone industry in the world - each year for many years already, and each year we visit Motorola's press conference:
... or at least we try to visit it (if there are no conflicts with other events in this very tense event). This year we already have booked visits at press conferences of Microsoft (long-year 3GSM exhibitor) and HTC (that is coming to 3GSM for the first time in history and even Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, will be present!) but maybe we will have to book also press conference of Motorola, because apparently Motorola will announce at 3GSM 2007 the new Motorola Q for EDGE:
... and the new Motorola Q (called probably Motorola Q2 ?) for HSDPA:
Interestingly Motorola still is positioning Windows Mobile phones only as enterprise devices:
Stay tuned for our first hand reports from 3GSM 2007, including first impressions about new Motorola Q smartphones. It is yet to be seen whether Motorola Q for HSDPA will have a wheel or not - according to rumors it will have no wheel (big mistake!!!) ... but at 3GSM conference next month at last everything will become clear. Release of Motorola Q EDGE and Motorola Q HSDPA means that at last GSM/HSDPA operators like Cingular and T-Mobile in USA, and all operators in Europe, will be able to offer Motorola Q to their customers... but if these new Motorola Q smartphones, similarly like Motorola Q CDMA-EVDO will have no built-in Wi-Fi, then they will have hard time competing with HTC Cavalier and Samsung SGH-i600 - both having both HSDPA and Wi-Fi and both powered by the same touch-screen-less Windows Mobile Smartphone edition.
