Windows Vista commercially released - but Windows Mobile Device Center STILL IN BETA January 30, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. Sales of Windows Vista has started - both pre-installed in computer and OS alone for installation in existing computers... but Microsoft once again is late in mobility area and "Windows Mobile Device Center" - a separately download-able program for communication with Windows Mobile, that replaces ActiveSync - still is in Beta stage - version 3 that was not changed since release of Windows Vista Beta RC1 several months ago! On Jan. 30 the most significant product launch in Microsoft Corp.’s history culminates in the release to consumers of the Windows Vista operating system and Microsoft Office 2007. [...] The consumer launch of Windows Vista is also expected to unleash a flood of new next-generation hardware, software and entertainment devices and services. Currently, more than 1.5 million devices and peripherals are on the market that work with Windows Vista, including more than 2,500 that are Certified for Windows Vista. In addition, thousands of PC manufacturers and system builders around the globe will deliver the Windows Vista operating system and Microsoft Office 2007 on new PCs. Conclusion: Windows Vista has been released at last fully and it is indeed very good and fortunately it is 100% compatible with all Windows Mobile devices powered by Windows 2003 and Windows 5.0. The only problem is that Windows Mobile Device Center still is not available in final version what may cause some doubts, particularly among enterprise customers - the target market for Windows Mobile (according to Microsoft).
