Smartphone Homescreen XML Tutorial published January 31, 2007 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. With launch of Windows Mobile Smartphone Edition devices with horizontal display this platform is experiencing genuine renaissance so this tutorial may be of interest to people, who would like to customize their home screens by editing source code (XML) rather than by using user friendly GUI... Although the Smartphone Operating System may have debuted several years ago, 2006 was definitely the "year of the Smartphone." We saw the launch of the Motorola Q, T-Mobile Dash, and the Cingular BlackJack to name a few of the more popular devices. Compared with a traditional Pocket PC, the Smartphone OS may seem simplified, however, (among other things) a major difference is found in the way customization occurs. Conclusion: while Smarphone Edition of Windows Mobile is similar to Pocket PC edition the customization of home screen is different, and sometimes such self-made mobile phone customization brings more fun than using 3rd party tools...
