Rumor: Orange to sell HTC manufactured phones under HTC brand February 05, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. Could it be that times of Orange SPV phones powered by Windows Mobile and manufactured by HTC are over? Could it be that now HTC will be selling their phones to mobile operators under their own brand? We don't think so... That's a bit weird. Are Orange about to drop their SPV range ? Why release the HTC version of the phone when Orange Romania are already peddling the branded SPV C100 ? Confused? We definitely are. We can only guess that, perhaps, Orange intend to start selling the original HTC handsets in future in the same way that every network sells a Nokia or LG handset. Either that or it's a mistake by the catalogue guys? To read more click here. Commentary: Orange is not one of the biggest operators so probably it would be easier for HTC to convince it to use HTC brand, however the same trick could be impossible in case of T-Mobile for example. In any case HTC is now selling phones also under its own brand so either HTC really wants to keep this situation of double branding or HTC strives to sell only under its own brand in long-term. In any case one must remember that mobile operators are very powerful and one should rather try to comply with this what operators want... Credit: Raymond Yu.
