3GSM 2007: interview with CEO of UIQ February 14, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. UIQ and S60 are 2 Symbian platforms. The first one is owned by Sony Ericsson and the second one by Nokia. The most sophisticated phones from Sony Ericsson and the just announced MOTORIZR Z8 from Motorola are powered by Symbian UIQ. While previously the division was clear: S60 being for phones without touch screen and UIQ being for phones with touch screen, now both work for all types of devices - thus directly competing with each other (and with Windows Mobile). UIQ is based in Sweden, EU. While our focus is on Microsoft powered mobile phones, it is good to keep an eye also on other platforms, therefore we present here our non-judgemental interview with CEO of UIQ - Johan Sandberg:
