HTC wants to merge with Sony Ericsson February 15, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. Peter Chou, CEO of HTC:
... seriously thinks about it! HTC sees Sony Ericsson as potential merger candidate. Cellphone maker HTC, has the same growth as Sony Ericsson. The company is an Ericsson customer, and in an interview with di.se says CEO and company starter Peter Chou that he really wants to talk merger with Sony Ericsson. To see this interview with Peter Chou click here (in Swedish). Conclusion: in business everything is possible as example of Palm's decision to make Windows Mobile phones, has proved, however Sony Ericsson jointly owns Symbian (about 27%) and HTC is specialist in Windows Mobile, so apart from the fact that HTC may be purchasing some 3G technologies from Ericsson, this would be merger of incompatible partners. In other words: it will never happen, no matter how strong Peter Chou would like it to happen. Credit: ZoSo.
