Not so fast! - Palm says to Microsoft February 15, 2007 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. We have been talking to Palm employees at 3GSM 2007 and learned something interesting: actually this what Pieter Knook from Microsoft said about upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 for Treo 750 during Microsoft press conference is not exactly this what Palm means...
Apparently the sentence that Pieter Knook said there: "Palm is announcing upgrades to Windows Mobile 6" was not consulted with Palm and although these upgrades are being tested by Palm in reality Palm has not yet announced any upgrades to Windows Mobile 6. The same is with HSDPA upgrade in Treo 750 - there is no official statement or announcement from Palm! Interestingly new ROM for Palm Treo 750 (750v to be precise) is available here - page of Vodafone Netherlands - but all it offers is BlackBerry Connect software addition. See also here for more information about this Dutch ROM upgrade for Treo 750v (in Dutch naturally!). Summary: there are no announcements from Palm about Windows Mobile 6 and Palm told us that both HSDPA upgrade and Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for Treo 750 phones are coming, however there will be no announcements "when" they are coming. In other words: users can safely keep buying Treo 750 and Treo 750v - knowing that HSDPA and Windows Mobile 6 upgrades will be available in some time in future -also for old users. This confusion however is just a tiny, minor glitch and cooperation between Microsoft and Palm is working out very well, so well that now also 320x320 resolution is supported and if Palm wishes so, phones that can be booted by both operating systems - Palm OS and Windows Mobile - in one device - are becoming technically feasible!
