3GSM 2007: video recording of Windows Mobile 6 presentation of Microsoft February 16, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. Apart from press-only events, Microsoft was running repeatitively a 18 minute long presentation about Windows Mobile at its stand at 3GSM 2007 - so that any visitor to 3GSM could see it. This presentation was entitled "Introducing Windows Mobile 6" and here we present video recording of this presentation. While some other videos about Windows Mobile 6 from Microsoft exist, the fact is that his presentation at 3GSM was the most official one!
Interestingly we have noticed one interesting thing regarding Windows Mobile in Windows Vista: icon of Windows Mobile phone visible inside of Windows Vista can look exactly as the real phone (here: Motorola Q q9 was used):
... and also Windows Mobile Device center can include links to support pages of mobile operator or mobile phone manufacturer! Interestingly it works also with Windows Mobile! How it works? It works in this way that in registry of Windows Mobile device special entries must be present and if they are, then instead of standard smartphone or Pocket PC icon, Windows Vista is displaying then icon that looks exactly like the real phone! Several new features of Windows Mobile 6 were discussed, including call history visible from the contact (big improvement in usability!):
... and including newly introduced cooperation with SharePoint server (SharePoint server - document and list repository; something like Google Docs but installable in your own server):
Obviously the touch-screen-less devices now also get Office Mobile, with full editing capability and this was also presented:
