Apple gets nervous about Windows Mobile March 05, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. Apple is a cruel and selfish corporation that is not only not licensing their DRM (iTunes) and their OS (Mac OS X) to other manufacturers - as Microsoft does - but also a company that is slapping enthusiasts, both bloggers and programmers, with lawsuits and threats... Somebody from Malaysia created a program that emulated behavior of iPhone in his Pocket PC phone (it was E-Ten M600) - it included even identical way of resuming from screen lock as in iPhone: just by sliding the finger from left to right - and Apple ordered YouTube to remove the video! Here is what the author writes: Finally Apple stepped in and ordered youtube to remove my video. I thought I would get an email from them but I don't think they will bother anymore after this. So yea, it has been a very strange 3 days, with 2 suspensions of my site account due to over-usage and some people wanting to get me sued so badly. I think if you're in my shoes you won't be thinking that way. I did not put this video up to show off what I did. I'm just showing you the possibilities of a ppc, showing you that it can be done. About a hundred years ago, before the Wright brothers invented the plane, nobody thought it was possible for man to fly. After their historical flight at Kitty Hawk, planes started appearing and air travel became possible. Today, almost everyone can fly (with Airasia's cheap flights). And so the whole perspective has changed because someone figured out how to do it. To read more click here (the site may be down due to exceeded web traffic). Conclusion: clearly Windows Mobile, being full smartphone system and not a close phone like iPhone, is much more powerful and Apple has reasons to be scared. Hopefully community of Windows Mobile fans will find ways to offer new user interfaces, that even remotely resemble Apple iPhone, that would not be susceptible to threats from Apple.. Here is the video in question:
