Live from CeBIT 2007 : video and screen shots of animated home screen plugin in Samsung i600 March 18, 2007 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Samsung has decided to spruce up Windows Mobile, that powers Samsung's fantastic i600 smartphone (HSDPA, Wi-Fi, scroll wheel, etc) by adding some pre-installed features, including RSS reader, automatic podcast downloader and a fancy animated home screen plugin:
Here is a video of this plugin in action (Flash enabled browser required): ... and higher quality version of this video you can download here. Here are some static screen shots (to understand how this plugin works you MUST see the video however!):
Description: with this home screen plugin users can scroll horizontally and vertically through various items - so on one hand it is kind of menu. However on the other hand users can activate also functions, including audio playback, so it is more than just menu! One is for sure, Samsung went an extra mile to satisfy users. Conclusion: Samsung i600 is an excellent smartphone and it doesn't even need a fancy plugin because it has several fantastic hardware features, including HSDPA, Wi-Fi (unlike US American version - Samsung BlackJack - that is missing out on Wi-Fi) and genuine scroll wheel. However it is good to see that Samsung pays special attention to this phone - not just by over-exposing it at CeBIT trade show but also by adding additional features. Samsung i600 is now on sale in Europe for less than 500 Euro.
