Live from CeBIT 2007 : Asus M530w and the truth about HSDPA in Asus phones March 19, 2007 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. The truth is simple: no Windows Mobile powered phone made by Asus is supporting HSDPA - contrary to what certain sources are claiming! Even Asus M530w doesn't have HSDPA:
... as you can see in this photo with specifications:
... and also as you can hear in this video: Conclusion: mobile phones constitute just tiny part of Asus business as it was also visible on Asus stand at CeBIT 2007 - just one table:
... in a relatively big (not huge) stand of Asus - was devoted to mobile phones and only part of it to Windows Mobile. Obviously Asus is now very succesful with their notebooks and computer multimedia products and brand recognition of Asus raises and still increases in Europe and USA. Asus has managed also to score some mobile operator deals - by making phones that are being branded by some operators. However Asus needs to catch up also in area of HSDPA: nowadays not only it is "a must" to have HSDPA built-in but also it must be HSDPA with 3.6 megabit/second because HSDPA with 1.8 megabit/second is already outdated and operators already started offering 3.6 speed! This slogan from Asus stand at CeBIT:
... was not referring to Windows Mobile phones because none of them has HSDPA yet (3G = UMTS, 3.5G = HSDPA). More photos of M530w can be seen below!
