Real life photos of HTC Kaiser surface - thin 3G phone with HSDPA and GPS but still no VGA display
March 21, 2007 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
It looks like days of HTC Hermes are counted and it will be replaced by HTC Kaiser - a thinner version that adds built-in GPS and innovative flip-up mechanism:
No wonder HTC is hiding HTC Kaiser from the world - nobody would be willing to buy HTC Hermes Pocket PC phone anymore if it would be official!
Some highlights about HTC Kaiser:
- thinner than HTC Hermes: HTC Kaiser = 18 mm, HTC Hermes = 22 mm
- display: QVGA (320x240) - still no VGA - apparently HTC thinks that VGA displays can be placed only in over-sized bricks like HTC Advantage or HTC Universal
- probable model name: HTC TyTN P4500
- processor: Samsung 400 MHz (corresponds speed-wise to XScale 520 MHz)
- quad GSM and quad UMTS (yes! not 3 as by now, but 4 UMTS bands supported) - HSDPA operates over UMTS
- HSUPA support - i.e. super fast uploads, not just super fast downloads possible (HSDPA)
- cameras: 3 megapixel with auto-focus on the back and VGA camera for UMTS video calling in the front
- built-in GPS - chip-set unknown yet
- innovative mechanical construction: flip-up mechanism that at first glance looks like a broken phone but in reality it may improve usability of typing. On top of that genuine scroll wheel (like in BlackBerry) included
