MS Outlook will not be included with HP iPAQ PDAs and phones March 25, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. In the whole history of Windows Mobile it was a hard principle: each Windows Mobile device was shipped with CD-ROM (or DVD disc) with Microsoft Outlook in it. Since a standard desktop Windows (now: Windows Vista, previously: Windows XP) has only simplified email client pre-installed - such that is not synchronizing with Windows Mobile - the inclusion of Microsoft Outlook was necessary. However now, in era of Google Mail, when people couldn't be bothered with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange, clearly many users were not even installing that Outlook... so HP's decision is understandable. DESCRIPTION The Getting Started CD that comes with each HP iPAQ manufactured after March 2007, will not have the Microsoft Outlook setup on it. Symptoms: Microsoft Outlook setup is not available on the Getting Started CD that is shipped with every HP iPAQ manufactured after March 2007. SCOPE This update applies to all the HP iPAQs which are manufactured after March 2007. RESOLUTION Microsoft Outlook is not provided on the HP iPAQ Getting Started CD and must be purchased separately from Microsoft. Customers can go to office.microsoft.com and follow the on-screen instructions to purchase the available version of Microsoft Outlook. To learn more click here.
