CTIA 2007 : Microsoft stand + gallery of latest Windows Mobile phones March 31, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. At Microsoft stand at CTIA 2007:
... all (!) phones were powered by Windows Mobile 6 (none by Windows Mobile 5.0!) and one could notice that Windows Mobile 6 upgrade is coming to Cingular 8525 (HTC Hermes), Samsung BlackJack, and to Treo 750:
Also Motorola phones were being presented including UMTS/HSDPA enabled Motorola Q q9 smartphone (that lacks scroll wheel) and GSM-only Motorola Q gsm (that genuine scroll wheel like CDMA version of Motorola Q):
T-Mobile Dash was also presented, of course with Windows Mobile 6 on board:
First phone from i-mate that is powered by Windows Mobile 6 - i-mate JAQ4 - was also presented:
... as well as i-mate PDAL phone:
Asus P526 was also present:
Samsung BlackJack from Cingular was presented too and it was revealed by what processor it is powered (it is TI OMAP 1710, 220 MHz):
The HP iPaq 510 smartphone has no 3G but features built-in Wi-Fi and offers built-in Voice over IP (VoIP) functionality:
Orange SPV E650 has no 3G but it has nice slide-out keyboard:
Now there are many various models of Windows Mobile phones on the market so it would be interesting to learn, what were selection criteria, that Microsoft has used to decide which phones to place on their stand! ... but surely one can guess that "being upgrade-able to Windows Mobile 6 or being powered by Windows Mobile 6" was primary criterion - after all CTIA 2007 was the event, where Microsoft has unveiled Windows Mobile 6 to the public for the fist time in USA!
