Silverlight (subset of Windows Presentation Foundation) coming to Windows Mobile April 18, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. Forget Windows Forms! The new paradigm and platform for user interfaces/interactivity from Microsoft is called "Windows Presentation Foundation". Silverlight basically is a Flash-like vector-based technology that is supposed to be multi-platform and be able to enhance web applications, including those based on AJAX. Once again Microsoft offers it at first to foreign platforms (Mac OS X, Linux) rather than releasing it first for its own Windows Mobile! Good news however: it is coming for Windows Mobile too: Support for Linux will be added if there is any need, but currently not on the roadmap as far as I know. Windows Mobile devices will be supported, but I think it will not be ready until MIX07 which already starts in a week. I would be happy to see Silverlight running on my Windows Mobile devices. Lack of version for Windows Mobile is however disappointing but it is good to see that it is not forgotten and that Symbian is not getting it before Windows Mobile, like it was previously in some cases...
