Explanation why no Windows Mobile 6 upgrade will be available for CDMA EVDO version of Motorola Q April 20, 2007 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Lack of scroll wheel in latest models was already a serious disappointment to fans of Motorola Q smartphone, but the fact that CDMA EVDO version of Motorola Q will have not get upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 is even bigger disappointment. Why Motorola is doing it? Here comes explanation: I've spoken with the MotoDev department and they say that there will be no WM6 upgrade for the MotoQ because they are working on a new CDMA device that will have it. When I asked them if it's going to be the q9, they told me that they only have plans for GSM right now and hence the CDMA is probably another device. In other words most likely Motorola Q is preparing new smartphone, possibly with support for EVDO Rev (faster transfer speeds) and probably with different looks (hopefully Motorola will not repeat that dreadful decision to remove scroll wheel from feature set). While CDMA EVDO is not available in Europe, Motorola in meantime is preparing to launch they Moto Q smartphones in UK and in whole Europe - but since the one with the scroll wheel has no UMTS/HSDPA and one with UMTS/HSDPA has no scroll wheel, these phones will most likely not be selling as well in Europe as Motorola Q CDMA EVDO once was in USA...
