HTC opens new factory in Brazil - Jaguariuna
May 25, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R.
It looks like HTC Kaiser, HTC Excalibur and HTC Shift will be made in Brazil:
Some thoughts about this new development:
- by now HTC had factories only in their home country - Taiwan
- having factories in other countries can be 2nd, after global branding strategy, sign that HTC is becoming a global corporation
- it is not a secret that USA and Europe are the biggest markets for Windows Mobile phones made by HTC, so it is strange that HTC has not selected for example Mexico (part of NAFTA free trade zone that encompasses USA) or for example Slovakia (part of EU free trade zone and political union)... but clearly Brazil in near future may achieve free trade agreement with USA what would mean customs-fee-free export possibility and ultimately cheaper phones!
