Windows Live Messenger over mobile web - review May 27, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. If your Windows Mobile phone, or any other phone for that matter, has no Live Messenger (MSN Messenger), then you can just open your web browser (IE) and start using Live Messenger service that in beta version is provided by Microsoft since recently:
Obviously one needs to have Live Messenger ID (user name and password):
After successful log-in one can select the status and one can go online:
... and one can see then who is online and who is available for (instant messaging) chatting:
There are many options on the page, but most important is "Refresh":
... because you need to manually refresh the page (periodically) yourself. Now you can chat by entering text and pressing "Send" button:
Also smileys are available:
In settings user can display name and status:
Conclusion: while functionality of this mobile web based Live Messenger service is not as good as the functionality of a (stand-alone) Live Messenger in Windows Mobile 6 (it has even file transfers!), indeed this service may be useful.
