Soleus - a mobile phone platform based on Windows CE - presented at MEDC Taiwan 2007 May 30, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. Several Microsoft employees from Windows Embedded and Mobile Division are touring the world this and next month, and giving speeches at MEDC conferences (usually 1-2 day short events - not so long as the main MEDC that took place in USA) and clearly MEDC Taiwan is one of the most important ones - considering that so many Windows Mobile manufacturers are located there... We will be present at MEDC Europe 2007 next month - expect first hand reports then - but in meantime companies are using MEDC to promote their products... including Soleus - a mobile phone platform baed on Windows CE - the very same operating system on which also Windows Mobile is based! Information from Intrinsyc follows. * * * * * Intrinsyc to Present Soleus on Windows Embedded CE 6.0 at MEDC Taiwan 2007 Soleus Software Platform Offers Pre-Certified Telephony and Large Application Portfolio to Enable Faster, Lower-Cost Consumer Handset Development In support of OEMs migrating their handset designs to the Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 operating system, Intrinsyc Software International, Inc., will preview the Soleus software platform running on CE 6.0 and the Marvell PXA270 applications processor. Technical decision makers can view a demonstration at Intrinsyc’s booth (#9) at Microsoft Mobile and Embedded DevCon 2007, Taiwan, May 29, 2007. “We’re excited to work with Intrinsyc to further the vision of next generation handheld devices with the company’s Soleus software platform built on Windows Embedded CE 6.0,” said Ilya Bukshteyn, Director of Windows Embedded Marketing at Microsoft Corp. “Current Soleus OEM customers now have a clear upgrade path to the newest version of Windows Embedded CE, while prospective OEM customers can add CE 6.0 to the list of advantages of using the Soleus software platform.” “Building on over ten years of Windows Embedded CE experience, Intrinsyc is now taking advantage of the Soleus software platform and its CE 6.0 software integration expertise to help OEMs get their products to market faster,” says Randy Kath, Chief Technology Officer & General Manager, Mobile Products Group, Intrinsyc Software. “We anticipate device manufacturers and ISVs will make optimal use of native Windows Embedded CE 6.0 capabilities, such as location framework services, bringing broad new benefits to Soleus customers.” Soleus is a complete mobile handset software platform built on Windows Embedded CE, with pre-certified telephony and a large application portfolio designed specifically to address the consumer mobile handset opportunity. With the Soleus platform running on Windows Embedded CE 6.0, Intrinsyc is ready to support device manufacturers as they develop next-generation handsets based on CE 6.0.
