i-mate opens base in Singapore
June 20, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R.

When i-mate claimed "i-mate arrives in Asia" it was a very strange headline considering that i-mate is already headquarted in Asia - in Dubai, United Arab Emirates...

The CommunicAsia 2007 trade show now takes place in Sinagopore and i-mate has a stand there, hence the news story, but in the meantime, (announced long-time ago) i-mate Ultimate series of phones is still not on the market...

Information from i-mate follows.

i-mate arrives in Asia

Exceptional Windows Mobile devices and Innovative solutions expected to appeal to high value customers throughout the region

i-mate (London AIM: IMTE), the global specialist in Microsoft Windows Mobile devices and software applications, announced today at CommunicAsia 2007, their plans to offer exceptional mobile devices and highly innovative solutions to customers throughout Asia.

Working in partnership with some of the world’s largest networks and distributors, i-mate has secured market-leading positions in several regions including Eastern and Western Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australasia. Singapore will be the base through which i-mate will spearhead their launch into key territories across Asia over the coming months.

Jason Lim, Regional Director for Asia Pacific and Japan, Mobile Communication Business Division, Microsoft Corp, said: “i-mate belongs to a breed of innovative and forward-thinking solution providers that are harnessing the power and flexibility of the Windows Mobile operating system. The platform enables a high level of customization, which means i-mate can deliver tailored solutions to different segments of their customer base. We’re delighted to support i-mate on their launch into Asia, and look forward to working closely with them to expand the breadth of device choices for Windows Mobile.”

The highly acclaimed Ultimate range from i-mate will be on offer to customers throughout the region from Sept 2007. Catering to the differing requirements of customers, a variety of form factors will be available to choose from with the 6150 and 8150 expected to lead the launch. Housing the latest in mobile device technology, the Ultimate range will maximise the full potential of local networks bringing Mobile Operator content and services to life.

“We plan to offer so much more than just Windows Mobile based products of exceptional quality. Our ability to customise our devices to suit the needs of individual customers, combined with our innovative software solutions and extensive support delivers an unrivalled total proposition to our customers,” said Jim Morrison, CEO, i-mate.

Designed in house by i-mate’s leading team of software engineers, i-mate Suite is a remote device management tool that allows you to remotely configure, trouble shoot or change the settings on any Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6 device. Now you can remotely lock down your mobile device, or wipe your personal data if your mobile is ever lost/stolen. This includes any information on your SD card. Likewise, updates and revised settings can be remotely sent to any Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6 powered device, keeping mobile workforces highly productive.

As part of i-mate’s total value proposition to channel partners, CommunicAsia 2007 will also mark the launch of i-mate’s Customisation and Order Management Solution (COMS) across the region. i-mate COMS enables partners to develop a high value tailored solution for their customers in just 10 minutes. The web based interface ensures i-mate devices are ready to use out of the box, complete with mobile operator, enterprise, and individual customer preferred settings. This enables channel partners to deliver built for purpose products quickly and easily. i-mate COMS also represents an ideal platform for partners to upsell additional services, encourage repeat purchase, and reduce the sales cycle. With nothing more to pay other than the cost of the i-mate device/s ordered, this unique service is expected to appeal to Mobile Operators, System Integrators and Value Added Resellers throughout Asia. i-mate also offers an extensive range of support to customers via Club i-mate, the world’s largest Windows Mobile user community. From live support online and software updates through to subsidised content and a 24 month global warranty, imate plan on becoming the choice of the discerning Windows Mobile device customer throughout Asia.
