Unofficial Windows Mobile 6 ROM upgrade for Treo 750 from ATT USA leaked July 28, 2007 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Neither AT&T USA nor Palm Inc are releasing this ROM upgrade so it is good to see that it is available unofficially - as a leak: Version Information Windows Mobile 6.0 AKU 0.2.4 Build 17746 CE Image: 1.25 Radio FW: 1.47.25.00 Installation and Upgrade Guide Plug the Treo 750 into a power source Load software update onto your miniSD card (CHEEIMG.nbh file). Insert the card. Press and hold both the PTTApp Button (lowest button on left side of device) + Pin Reset (next to miniSD card slot). You no longer need to hold the Windows key as well. You will be prompted to press the End key to start the update. This step takes about 10 minutes to complete. Hard reset the device when prompted. To hard-reset, hold the End key while pressing the pin reset button. Answer “yes” to “Erase all data” prompt. To verify the software, hold the Down-Arrow while pin-resetting. You will see: Firmware: R 1.47.25.00 ROM: D 1.25 Keyboard: U 26 The Bootloader can also be confirmed by holding down the PTT button and pin resetting (without the updater miniSD card inserted) SPL: SPL 0.24 To learn more or to download this ROM upgrade, click here. Commentary: Palm has announces Windows Mobile 6 for Treo 750 long time ago as you can see here but has not kept the promise. We have also heard from Microsoft, that Windows Mobile 6 powered Treo 750 is in use by several Microsoft employees and that it enables HSDPA and Internet connection sharing (using phone as modem without the need to install any software in PC). Unfortunately no official Windows Mobile 6 upgrade, despite numerous promises, means that Treo 750 cannot be recommended for purchase - it may well be that Palm is preparing new phone and simply doesn't want to provided the upgrade to boost sales of the new model...
