Rumor: i-mate cancels all but 2 models from i-mate Ultimate series August 16, 2007 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Since when a small British retailer is speaking on behalf of phone manufacturer? Apparently since recently: There has been much speculation over the last few months as to whether i-mate will ever release their much talked about Ultimate range of devices. We can now confirm, of the original 5 handhelds that were intended, only 2 will remain. The Ultimate 6150 and 8150, are expected to arrive in October and will carry the same specification as planned, whilst the 5150, 7150 and 9150 have been dropped from production plans. To learn more, click here. Conclusion: i-mate is in financial crisis now and everything is possible, including bankruptcy. Clearly i-mate needs some phone models that would be appealing enough to achieve any significant sales figures. This time however it sounds like whole future of i-mate hinges on success of i-mate Ultimate phones - only 2 remaining models!
