After MS DRM, Windows Media and MS Exchange protocols - Nokia mobiles get Live services from Microsoft August 23, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R. What next? Windows Mobile powered Nokia phones? Nokia, the world’s largest mobile device manufacturer, and Microsoft Corp., a global leader in online communications and communities, have joined together to provide customers with a new suite of Windows Live services specifically designed for Nokia devices. Starting today, Nokia customers in 11 countries with compatible S60 devices can download the new suite enabling access to Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Contacts and Windows Live Spaces. Starting next year, customers who purchase compatible Nokia Series 40 handsets will also have access to these popular Windows Live services. To learn more, visit Microsoft's story about the latest Microsoft-Nokia cooperation. Customers in USA and also some in EU would be more inclined to buy Nokia smartphones if they would be powered by Windows Mobile. Unfortunately Nokia still has not disconnected from legacy of Urho Kekkonen and although it is using and purchasing many technologies from Microsoft, Nokia still insists on using only Symbian, but not Windows Mobile in their smartphones. Clearly Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo - current CEO of Nokia - still is under influence of Urho Kekkonen, because otherwise we would already see Windows Mobile powered Nokia phones.
