Palm Treo 500 and Treo 500v sighted at FCC and their manufacturer revealed September 17, 2007 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. What company is manufacturing Treo 500v smartphone? It is not HTC!
In reality the FCC documentation about Treo 500 and Treo 500v smartphones reveals that it is ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. or in other words: ASUS! The label inside of this phone states "Made in Taiwan" and "designed in Sunnyvale CA" (where Palm USA is located) what indicates that it was Palm Inc. and not ASUS that designed this phone and ASUS is just a manufacturer. Unfortunately Treo 500v not only misses out on WiFi but it also doesn't support HSDPA (practical transfer speeds 700 kbps and more) but only UMTS (practical transfer speeds around 300 kbps). Conclusion: while Treo 500 (and Vodafone version: Treo 500v) may appeal to some narrow group of users (kids?) it clearly is dissapointing most users...
