Paragon Software makes localization for Windows Mobile devices of ASUS

ASUS chooses localization software by Paragon Software for Hungarian market

Paragon Software (SHDD), the software developer for PDAs, smartphones and communicators, and AsusTeK Computer Inc., the provider of 3C (computers, communications and consumer electronics) total solutions, announced that the ASUS MyPal A639/A686/A696 and P535 will be distributed in the Hungarian market bundled with a localization package by Paragon Software (SHDD). All the customers of the latest ASUSTeK’s PDAs and communicators will receive the devices with Paragon localized applications. The localization package includes LEng, the system of localization, and PenReader, the handwriting recognition software.

ASUS MyPal A686 and A696 GPS PDAs provide navigation with professional precision and a user-friendly interface. Based on Marvell XScale processor and Windows Mobile 6 PPC software, the A686/A696 offers a comprehensive Pocket PC features, including Microsoft Office, built-in WiFi(A696 only), Bluetooth 2.0(EDR), USB port, and IrDA port for PC synchronization and efficient data processing. In addition to the built-in 256MB Flash ROM and 64MB SDRAM, the A686/A696 also support external SD card slots for extra data storage capacity. The large 3.5-inch 65,000 colors TFT-LCD with touch screen allows easy access to all features.

With built in 1GB memory capacities, the ASUS MyPal A639 GPS PDA provides ample space for GPS maps and digital multimedia contents. It also incorporates advanced wireless connectivity including GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v2.0(EDR) for total wireless freedom.

MyPal P535 is a Tri-band Pocket PC phone which incorporates Push E-mail and Wi-Fi support to deliver a complete mobile business solution. It is the first device that combines the features of both a phone and a GPS-navigator (based SiRFStar III) into one device. Based on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6 operating system, the ASUS PDA phone supports office applications including Word Mobile, Excel Mobile and PowerPoint Viewer. The P535 comes with both Wi-Fi and GPRS support built in, providing wireless and cellular connectivity for Internet access. The 2 megapixel digital camera with Auto-Focus can also act as a business card recognition device. Running on a 520MHz Marvell XScale , the P535 comes with 64MB RAM and 256MB ROM and an expansion slot (miniSD card). It supports Tri band GSM network (900/1800/1900) and GPRS Class B, multi-slot Class 10 and provides a touchscreen 2.8" display (240 x 320 pixels)

Generally, smart handheld devices have English user interfaces and do not support text input, including handwriting, in the local, national language or, as an address book doesn’t enable correct sorting and search of contacts. The software solutions by Paragon are dedicated to overcoming such problems.

LEng localization software provides the full-scale usage of localized languages on mobile computers (including interface translation, inputting and editing of national symbols in all applications, translated manuals).

PenReader enables handwriting text input in national languages on devices and adapts to any features of individual handwriting.
