Reorganization at Microsoft mobile division
October 11, 2007 [General] | By Edward J. R.
Mary Jo Foley, who is reporting about Microsoft in general for over 10 years, got a scoop about changes at Microsoft's division where also Windows Mobile has its home ! While these changes are not 100% confirmed one can notice that Microsoft is not focused solely on Windows Mobile but also on mobile services:
- John O’ Rourke will lead the new Platform Planning and Product Management team.
- Bart Wojciechowski will lead the Mobile Services Planning and Product Management organization.
- Tony Mestres will continue leading the Worldwide Partner and Segment Engagement team.
- Scott Horn will continue to lead the Mobile Communications Business’ Campaigns and Communications group.

Conclusion: unfortunately once again Windows Mobile is being obfuscated by various other sub-divisions in communications area... It is also unclear what is going on with Windows Embedded division that was coupled with Windows Mobile - and was obfuscating the state of Windows Mobile platforms. It looks however like Windows Mobile 6 is going strong and we shouldn't expect Windows Mobile 7 before 2009.
