USA may be not that big smartphone market as whole Europe, but if single coutries (not EU as a whole) are considered, it is probably one of the biggest markets in the world... so after news story that Todd Achilles left HTC Americas it looks like Jason Mackenzie has been selected to be his replacement - in other words: HTC has elevated existing employee instead of finding somebody outside... Information from HTC follows. * * * * * HTC America Appoints New Vice President of Sales and Marketing High Tech Computer Corp., the world's leading provider of Microsoft Windows Mobile -based smart devices, today announced that Jason Mackenzie has been named the vice president of sales and marketing of HTC America. "We are delighted about Jason's new role and look forward to his leadership as the company continues to expand its presence in the Americas," said Peter Chou, chief executive officer of HTC. "As one of our first employees in the Americas, Jason has a strong track record of working with partners, leading teams and developing sales channels. His experience will be an asset to HTC as we continue to innovate for our customers." Hired by HTC in 2005, Mackenzie has served as the executive director of national accounts for HTC and was a founding member of the HTC America leadership team. Mackenzie has been instrumental in the expansion of HTC America, which has grown to more than 100 employees in just two years. In addition, he was responsible for developing the Americas account team structure, channel sales organization and relationships with some of the top mobile operators in North America. "HTC is a company that is on the cutting edge of mobile innovation, and I've been fortunate to be a part of HTC America since its inception two years ago," said Mackenzie. "We have a strong quarter and year ahead of us with a number of new devices coming to the U.S. marketplace, and I am excited to take HTC America to the next level with our valued partners and customers." Before joining HTC, Mackenzie held a progression of sales and marketing positions with DENSO Wireless and Siemens Communications, concluding as vice president for Siemens Communications. Mackenzie earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego.
