Microsoft releases a sample application written in C# for Windows Mobile 6 Standard Devices (i.e. smartphones without touch-screen), that is accompanied with documentation and demonstrates accessing the internal contacts database. While it is not of interest to broader public it is one of several "starter kits" that Microsoft offers and that can be inspiration for both hobby and professional developers. More information: This Microsoft Windows Mobile Starter Kit is a ready-to-run application that reads the contacts stored on the device, and displays them one at a time along with any associated image. You can scroll through the list of contact methods (phone, email, SMS) and with a single key press, dial the number or create a blank email or SMS message.
