Video interview with i-mate at CTIA 2007 October 24, 2007 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. While other news sources bring you just editorial content, we provide first-hand reports from trade shows in the United States and Europe, podcasts and countless videos. We will be publishing several videos from CTIA October 2007, starting with this video of i-mate, a company that unveiled new generation Windows Mobile smartphones, this week. The new devices from i-mate, particularly i-mate Ultimate 8502 and i-mate Ultimate 9502, are very impressive because they deliver both VGA displays and GPS in pocket-sized form factors. (direct link to this video is HERE) Here is an excerpt about i-mate phones in general: The Ultimate 6150 has a high end PDA form factor with a 2.8 inch VGA touch-screen. The Ultimate 8150 features both a VGA touch-screen and dial keypad with T9 for simple and convenient text entry. The Ultimate 8502 has a 2.6 inch touch-screen and full QWERTY keypad, and the Ultimate 9502 offers a 2.8 inch sliding VGA touch-screen with a full QWERTY keypad. The Ultimate device range has Windows Mobile 6, 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM, Quad-Band GSM/EDGE, Tri-Band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA, 2.0 and 3.0 mega pixel fixed focus cameras, GPS, WiFi 802.11b/g/e/i, Bluetooth v2.0 EDR connectivity, VGA LCD Touch Screen, and a MicroSD card slot. Certainly the i-mate Ultimate 8502 phone:
... and i-mate Ultimate 9502 phone offer features that not even HTC packs into its devices of the same size. Now all i-mate needs to do is strike carrier agreements and develop fast enough to meet demand. The company offers these phones unlocked. Of course, i-mate would like to negotiate carrier agreements, which made a number of competing manufacturers such as HTC grow rapidly. These new phones should be available, at least from online stores, by the end of this year.
