Photo review of i-mate Ultimate 8502 compared to HTC Kaiser aka HTC TyTN II October 26, 2007 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Actually i-mate Ultimate 8502 is much smaller than expected and it not only matches features of HTC Kaiser because it also has 3.5G and built-in GPS, but it even beats HTC Kaiser in one respect: it features HSUPA. (not to mention that i-mate Ultimate 8502 is actually physically smaller (!!!) than HTC Kaiser) Unfortunately i-mate 8502 still features QVGA display - the same as in HTC Kaiser - and not VGA as some sources mention. Seeing is believing so see them both compared side by side:
Clearly i-mate Ultimate 8502 is thinner and smaller than HTC Kaiser:
Some people don't like that HTC Kaiser has stereo headset in form of miniUSB so the good news is that i-mate Ultimate 8502, apart from standard miniUSB connector, features also standard 2.5 mm stereo headset connector (thus making it possible to purchase high-quality stereo headset):
Also in closed form the i-mate 8502 is smaller than HTC Kaiser:
... and here is once again thinness comparison:
HTC Kaiser has a scroll wheel that i-mate Ultimate 8502 doesn't have. However in all other respects it looks like i-mate Ultimate 8502 matches HTC Kaiser apart from area of HSUPA (fast uploads, as compared to fast downloads with HSDPA): HTC Kaiser doesn't support HSUPA but i-mate Ultimate 8502 does. Now if only i-mate would manage to get 8502 to stores promptly, users interested in powerful smartphone with QWERTY keyboard for single-handed usage, could be at last satisfied too!
