Samsung i780 listed by Samsung as UPCOMING + extensive review published November 15, 2007 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. This phone is unbelievable! It features apparently optical touch-pad similar to those in notebooks, will be probably the first Windows Mobile phone with 320x320 display and features also built-in GPS on top of WiFi and HSDPA... so it is good to see that Samsung has already listed it among "upcoming" phones with the following, very official (from Samsung!) information: Windows Mobile 2 Megapixel Camera 320x320 Full Touch TFT WiFi 802.11 Push E-mail ... and on top of that, in icon-based form, Samsung mentions also that this phone has, among others: video calling, FM radio, Bluetooth. To see the list of upcoming Samsung phones, among which Samsung i780 can be found, click HERE. * * * * * Interestingly some units of Samsung i780 already are in circulation and an extensive review, or rather series of reviews, can be found HERE - it tackles also issue of GPS - apparently it is A-GPS what means: with help of Internet connection GPS fix is fast but without such support it may take longer than GPS receiver powered by SiRF Star III chipset. All in all GPS is an icing on the cake in case of this phone, and Samsung i780 is a fabulous phone anyway and apparently it even supports some kind of advanced touch-screen technology that could be the first attempt in Windows Mobile camp to compete with HTC's TouchFLO technology. Samsung i780 is a breathtakingly good phone. If you are a fan of this form factor - QWERTY keyboard for single-handed use combined with touch-screen - then it may be the best choice for you for long time to come! Since HTC will not release any phone in this form-factor for a long time yet, and HP's smartphones with similar features (but lower resolution) are apparently being delayed, Samsung may well be the best in this category!
