OQO e2 with HSDPA coming this week December 04, 2007 [mobile PCs (Tablet PC, mini-PC, ...)] | By Edward J. R. By now OQO UMPCs (Ultra Mobile PCs) were equipped in USA only with mobile broadband modules for CDMA EVDO. In Europe they were sold only without any mobile broadband (but with WiFi of course). Apparently this week American OQO company will announce in London a European version of HSDPA-equipped UMPC with following band support: 3G Data: HSDPA/UMTS 2100MHz; GSM/EDGE/GPRS 900/1800MHz (SIM Free) ... what means: single-band support for HSDPA/UMTS - Europe only. The model for USA will have probably American HSDPA bands (i.ke. 850 and 1900 MHz). OQO UMPCs are unique among all other UMPCs because they support active digitizer pen with extremely high precision and many levels of pressure. Since in USA the only operator by now, that was offering HSDPA was AT&T, clearly notebook and UMPC manufacturers (apart from Dell) were ignoring HSDPA and were putting instead only CDMA EVDO modules for Verizon Wireless and Sprint. While you cannot make cellular phone calls with laptops and ultra mobile PCs with built-in HSDPA (yet) - they are designed mainly for Internet access, however they are very often used as an alternative to high-end smartphones and since most of them are powered by Microsoft software, still they can be considered as "Microsoft mobiles"! To learn more visit www.oqo.com later this week! (some online stores have already published info about this UMPC to get preorders but we recommend checking various stores before purchasing - not necessarily the one that published info as first one is the best one!)
