CES 2008: Windows Mobile phones at Microsoft booth January 09, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. Microsoft has a big booth (stand) at CES (we will publish later a video tour of this whole stand) and obviously one can find several various products there, not just Windows Mobile. Since CES takes place in USA however, clearly most of phones presented are rather directed at American market! The choice of phones that Microsoft picks for presentation at their stands reflects also various relationships that Microsoft has in various markets (here: in USA)... although clearly presenting phones that are not available on given market makes no sense, sometimes it is strange that some phones are picked and others not! The Windows Mobile part of rather big Microsoft stand constists of a round table (mini-stand) with phones presented for demonstration purposes. On top of this round mini-stand one can see displays that present Windows Mobile:
... and the mini-stand offers several phones that visitors can touch and play with:
Here is Verzon XV 6800 phone:
Here is Motorola Q9m smartphone:
Here is Samsung i760 offered by Verizon Wireless:
Here is Verizon XV 5800 smartphone:
Here is Samsung BlackJack II smartphone (successor to a very successful Samsung BlackJack but this time with built-in GPS):
Here is Pantech Duo with unique form factor (it has both slide-out QWERTY keyboard [horizontally] and slide-out cellphone keypad [vertically]):
Here is AT&T Tilt known also as HTC TyTN II that offers a unique feature - tilted display:
And this is T-Mobile Dash, now experiencing second life thanks to Windows Mobile 6 upgrade:
Here is T-Mobile Shadow that lacks 3G but appeals with fancy home screen adapted for T-Mobile USA by Microsoft:
This one is an i-mate Ultimate 8150 phone with unique video output feature (in XGA resolution although phone's display is VGA):
Here is Motorola Q9c smartphone avaialable at Sprint:
.. and HTC Touch but the one for CDMA EVDO network of Sprint and with fast processor (400 MHz):
... and finally here comes Pharos GPS phone which is an ETen Glofiish Windows Mobile phone branded by Pharos (specialists in GPS navigation):
Conclusion: while Microsoft avoids presentation of unreleased phones at their stand, one can see there however what phones are currently contemporary models in U.S. American market. Stay tuned for video tour of Microsoft tour and more reports (both in images and video) from CES 2008! Photography: Tadd Rosenfeld.
