CES 2008 video report: Qualcomm presents Windows Mobile phone with 1 GHz processor January 19, 2008 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Qualcomm is a chipset manufacturer that holds many CDMA patents what means that several mobile phone manufacturers have to pay patent license fees to them. Furthermore Qualcomm makes also ARM-compatible processors, that power several Windows Mobile phones, including HTC TyTN II. Here we present interview with Qualcomm employee where, among others, a Windows Mobile phone manufactured by Inventec (or rather an reference design for ODM) and powered by super-fast (1 GHz!!!) Qualcomm processor, is demonstrated: Here is how the Inventec-made Windows Mobile phone looks like:
Conclusion: while above mentioned device is not an actual phone that will go on sale, clearly it can be picked by one of major brands for manufacturing and sales and come to the market. It also shows potential of Windows Mobile and demonstrates that soon we will see on the marekt some Windows Mobile phones powered by processors of speed: 1 GHz. (video recording by Tadd Rosenfeld)
