Google corrects Gmail so that now IMAP works well with Windows Mobile 6 ! January 28, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. Well done to Google! Since Google launched IMAP for their wildly popular Gmail (free email service) users of Windows Mobile rejoiced but unfortunately not everything was working well... so the joy couldn't be complete. Now however, after latest corrections of Google on server side, everything works fine! IMAP is an Internet traffic intensive protocol that makes it possible to browse emails instead of downloading/fetching them and practically multiple clients (including web-based!) can be connected to the same mailbox. Here is a video recording that shows how to configure IMAP in a Windows Mobile phone and how it works: ... and to see Google's own description visit IMAP configuration information for Windows Mobile 6! Please note that with help of IMAP and Pocket Outlook (Messaging) the Windows Mobile users can not only read HTML (rich-text) emails but also can download attachments - what is impossible with mobile version of web-based Gmail and very impractical with simplified HTML view.
