Lies, damned lies and Gizmo Project February 03, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Gizmo Project is a voice over IP (VoIP) client that touts compatibility with several platforms and at Gizmo5.com - their website with versions for mobile phones - it even lists "Pocket PC" (i.e. powered by Windows Mobile) and claims that it has even full version for that platform: "Calling, IM (Gizmo, MSN, AIM, Yahoo), Tabbed Chat & File Transfer" ... but after checking we must conclude: it's a lie ... In reality this program that is presumably for Pocket PC is just a Java midlet that can't make any calls but just IM (instant messaging). On top of that several Windows Mobile phones don't even have Java virtual machine thus this it is a complete lie that this is a version of Gizmo Project client for Windows Mobile. So not only Gizmo Project cilent cannot make VoIP phone calls on Windows Mobile but also it is not even running on some Windows Mobile devices... Conclusion: companies that claim to have a Windows Mobile client of their software but that offer only a Java midlet with limited functionality are simply lying. Users of Windows Mobile however have at their disposition a VoIP program superior to Gizmo Project: Skype! Skype is available as a native original client for Windows Mobile here: http://www.skype.com/download/skype/windowsmobile/download.html
