Denial: Nokia phones powered by Windows Mobile are NOT coming February 08, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. (UPDATED: see bottom of this news item!) Obviously one thing is that Microsoft wants, that Nokia and all other mobile phone manufacturers license Windows Mobile phones and the other thing is the harsh reality: Nokia uses Symbian S60 in their mobile phones, Linux in their tablets and if any, it would be Google Android, not Windows Mobile, that Nokia would use next... Ed Hardy from Brighthand writes: I spoke with John Starkweather about this and he says this report goes farther than what he actually said. The article makes it sound like Nokia is close to signing a deal to license Windows Mobile, which isn't the case. The companies are constantly in talks on a veriety of issues, like Nokia's license of Exchange ActiveSync. That doesn't mean Nokia's about to make a huge additional step. He summed it up best by saying "We (Microsoft and Nokia) are NOT talking "all the time" about Nokia licensing Windows Mobile." Update: see also John Starkweather's answer to this "Nokia licenses Windows Mobile" issue.
