Microsoft launches Windows Live Developer Program for mobile February 19, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. This story is not related to Windows Mobile but it is about mobility: Microsoft wants developers to create applications for their Windows Live Services even though the scope is not global and there is no clear path how to earn money from such applications (supposedly Microsoft is working on mobile advertising, but obviously it is still a song of the future): The goal of this program is to work with our partners to launch high-quality, mobile solutions that enable our customers to communicate using Windows Live Services. [...] not all markets are currently being supported with deployments. Here is a list of markets (subject to change without notice):
Developers must work with the Mobile Operators to determine the method in which you would like to monetize your solutions. To learn more visit Windows Live Developer Program for mobile website. Conclusion: with Windows Mobile -oriented Mobile2Market program Microsoft at least tries to help in monetization of the software, but here with Windows Live Services it is developers themselves that must work out deals with operators? More help from Microsoft would come in handy particularly in the view, that nowadays Windows Mobile developers are leaving Windows Mobile for the sake of iPhone software development and there Apple will take care for monetization by means of iTunes software store... and Apple's direct relationships with operators.
