Palm Treo 800w leaked March 29, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Originally leaked on forum part of Sprint Users website (removed by now) this slide from a Sprint presentation confirms that Palm Treo 800w is coming July this year:
Treo 800w was spotted for the first time during keynote of Bill Gates during CES 2008 conference, but now the first semi-official confirmation is available - in form of above slide. Note that Treo 800w ("w" stands for "Windows Mobile") will have built-in WiFi and built-in GPS! While long time ago Palm was considered as innovative company, in recent years it has been lagging behind competition very much and no Palm phones with WiFi and GPS were offered at all. Now it changes - better (very) late than never. Treo 800w mentioned in above slide is for CDMA EVDO networks only and it offers Rev. A, what means: higher transfer speeds. It will be offered in versions with and without camera. When it comes to looks of Treo 800w we can only say "everything is matter of taste" but it doesn't take a genius to recognize that Angelina Jolie is attractive and it doesn't take a genius to recognize that Treo 800w is not particularly stylish device... While above slide shows Treo 800w for CDMA EVDO, not for GSM/UMTS/HSDPA we can however expect, that GSM version of Treo 800w will be released in similar time frame, i.e. summer 2008.
