Microsoft shows Windows Mobile 7 April 18, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. "MVP" stands for "Most Valuable Professional" and Windows Mobile MVPs are getting from Microsoft for free MSDN subscription (i.e. all Microsoft software through download or DVDs) worth over 2500 USD a year, free Windows Mobile phone (recently: free HTC Touch Dual) and many other goodies... Several Microsoft MVPs are attending this week a yearly MVP summit (by the way: most of them are not disclosing that Microsoft is paying for international/intercontinental traveling to this summit; where are those disclosures?) and Microsoft is showing to them Windows Mobile 7. Microsoft will be showing Windows Mobile 7 also to participants of Mobius 2008 event, that will take place next month. It looks like some MVPs are exasperated over very late release date of Windows Mobile 7 though and were forced to pull out stories written about it: This evening MVP Brandon Miniman posted a follow-up after seeing Windows Mobile 7 in the flesh at the MVP Summit. His thoughts? Well, there's big hints that Windows Mobile 7 will have the "wow" factor and will easily address any concerns you may have with the existing Operating System. Microsoft are well aware of what needs doing and WinMo7 will, according to the article, blow the iPhone UI out of the water along with any other phone interface... but... To learn more about latest confusion over Windows Mobile 7, visit related Windows Mobile 7 story. Commentary: according to our predications the optimistic scenario of Windows Mobile 7 rollout is: announcement in February 2009 at Mobile World Congress 2009, and sales of first devices in late summer of 2009 (i.e. around August-September 2009). Windows Mobile 7 has a totally redesigned user interface and generally is a belated answer to Apple iPhone. The release date is a bit late even in optimistic scenario so exasperation of Microsoft MVPs is understandable... however these outbursts were not expected from MVPs, who usually are busy pointing out why Apple iPhone is inferior to Windows Mobile phones. Note also: Microsoft this month at CTIA 2008 has launched Windows Mobile 6.1 but the full-web browsing capability with Flash support - one of the best new features in Windows Mobile 6.1 - is scheduled to be available also very late: around the end of 2008. Note also: there is a rumor that Microsoft will be releasing Windows Mobile 7 powered phone, engineered with help of recently acquired Danger team, by itself, manufactured/designed by Microsoft!
