PXT Portal and PXT Probe for Windows Mobile released April 23, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. PXT Portal is a kind of Bluetooth server - kind-of webserver but transmitting over Bleutooth and not Internet. PXT Probe is looking around to find nearby PXT Portals and to get information about local environment from these portals. More info: The PXT Portal is a data writer that enables users to create and deliver personal and professional content. Users within a range of 30 feet of the PXT Portal can then choose to access the content via the PXT Probe, a data reader. Both the PXT Portal and Probe software runs on Windows Mobile-based smartphones and PDAs that support the native Microsoft Bluetooth stack. A simple, consistent user interface handles a variety of proximity-based content that can be created using familiar NotePad, WordPad and Paint applications. This means no special tools or programming knowledge are required. PXT software is designed for everyday people and applicable in markets such as retail, education, business, and entertainment. Using PXT Probe, people on the move can collect and store information about all kinds of things as they are encountered in the environment. For example: Who's that person seated two tables over in the restaurant? Is that a friend three rows in front of me at the game? What's new at the museum across the street? With PXT Probe software, a smartphone or PDA user can identify and scan all nearby PXT Portals and decide whether to view their content. In addition, a security mechanism allows PXT Portal users to control who can access their content. To learn more visit www.zurado.com. Credit: Todd Marques from Zurado Systems.
