Yet another (pre) review of HTC Touch Diamond May 22, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Here comes yet another early preview of HTC Touch Diamond that cannot be considered as full review because only an engineering sample and not commercial product (that is coming in June 2008 = next month) is being tested and because no 3G network was used to test battery life. Nonetheless this preview contains several photos and videos of the HTC Touch Diamond, including several photos where HTC Touch Diamond is compared to various other mobile phones, so for people who are waiting impatiently for the commercial release this preview may be of interest: The graphics accelerator that was built into the previous version of the chipset hasn’t undergone any changes at all, but the main thing here is that it will be engaged for some applications at last. That is, it makes for speedy top-notch animation in TouchFLO 3D (weather forecast, transitions in the menu, pop-up windows). [...] Battery time. Many users are currently nervous about the Touch Diamond’s battery time, thinking that it won’t last long on a single charge. While we don’t have enough data on our hands to speak with due confidence as yet, it’s worth mentioning that the Diamond employs a less power-hungry platform, which, in theory, should make up for its low-capacity battery at least partly. On the other hand, it is obvious that the Touch Diamond won’t be a marvel on this front and the fact that the maker is going to realize high-capacity batteries for it is just another proof of that. Conclusion: one must test HTC Touch Diamond with heavy 3G network (HSDPA!) usage to get idea how long battery life really is but already now it looks like HTC Touch Diamond will be a mass-market hit. In the photos from this preview you can also see how incredibly small HTC Touch Diamond really is!
