How to customize Sliding Panel in Windows Mobile 6.1 without touch-screens June 05, 2008 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Formerly Windows Mobile phones without touch-screen were called "smartphone" in Microsoft's terminology and the ones with touch-screen "Pocket PC". Nowadays however Microsoft re-branded it all and these terms are gone... but Microsoft still (presumably until release of Windows Mobile 7) is keeping 2 different platforms for phones with and without touch-screen... and even though nowadays smartphones without touch-screen are much less popular, Microsoft offers special home screen enhancement for them in recently released Windows Mobile 6.1 : Sliding Panel. Here comes explanation from Microsoft employee how to customize this Sliding Panel: In the sliding panel home screen, the notifications plug-in by default serves as a dual-purpose notifications/gateway to all you phone/message accounts where every page represents one account (so, if you have multiple notifications in one category they will be shown as one summary page). There is however an alternative behavior where individual notifications are added as independent pages (Similar to what the T-Mobile shadow home screen does) and the plug-in only shows accounts that have new notifications in them. One cool feature of this alternate behavior is that each individual notification can be dismissed without having to leave the home screen.
