HTC Touch Diamond delayed June 05, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. What is going on? Shortly speaking: Expansys is shipping unofficial grey imports to UK now - what is forbidden by EU law and without agreement of HTC. On top of that British retailer Devicewire informs that official launch of HTC Touch Diamond in UK is delayed till June 23rd, 2008! So situation looks like this: in Hong Kong the HTC Touch Diamond is now officially on sale and production lines of HTC are working but it will take yet 2-3 weeks till HTC Touch Diamond will reach UK and probably also whole Europe - through official channels. Also: Microsoft employees, who were supporting Expansys in past (mainly through recommendations and links on their blogs) should re-think their ways because obviously it looks like Expansys is doing something that is annoying HTC - Microsoft's main partner in Windows Mobile area. Our advice is: be careful and try to purchase only official imports because otherwise instead of 2-year warranty from HTC and access to HTC's online club, you might get only problems. Note also that many mobile operators in Europe, including all (!) 5 in UK, will be selling HTC Touch Diamond... either HTC-branded or branded by themselves, so there will be a lot of opportunities to get it.
