Yahoo STILL incompetent about Windows Mobile: Yahoo! Go 3.0 released also for touch-screen phones June 19, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Great news! Now Yahoo Go 3.0 is available in a version for Windows Mobile phones with touch-screens! ... however bad news is that it is designed only for phones with QVGA (240x320) display while nowadays several Windows Mobile phones from E-TEN, GIGABYTE, HTC, Asus, Toshiba... have VGA (640x480) and W-VGA (800x480) displays! Yahoo indeed STILL is incompetent about Windows Mobile. Nonetheless the Yahoo Go 3.0 includes nice carousel-like user interface and apart from reading news, email, mapping, etc. it can also upload and manage (delete, edit comments, edit descriptions, edit tags) photos - directly to your FlickR account (FlickR is a part of Yahoo corporation):
Here are more screen-shots:
Unfortunately higher resolutions are not very well supported with Yahoo Go 3.0 so sometimes content is garbled:
To get Yahoo Go 3.0 open pocket Internet Explorer inside of your Windows Mobile phone and enter "get.go.yahoo.com"! Note: for using of this application one needs an account at Yahoo. Conclusion: it is great to see that uploading photos to Yahoo-owned FlickR is now possible also with original (from Yahoo itself!) application. In this way you do not need to purchase or use unofficial 3rd party applications and you can quickly upload and manage photos in your FlickR account. Other features of Yahoo Go 3.0 are also interesting but hardly competitive with various Live programs from Microsoft and with Google mobile offerings. Since FlickR still is the most popular in the world photo-sharing service however, Yahoo Go 3.0 for Windows Mobile with touch-screens is an important step forward!
