Microsoft acquires Portuguese mobility company June 27, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. No official announcement from Microsoft yet in Microsoft's press zone, probably because this deal has not been finalized yet, but strangely Microsoft decided to buy MobiComp - a small company from Portugal (EU) that has just 2 products: ... which are: MobileKeeper and Active Mobile Ticker - an offering for mobile operators, that offers synchronization, backup and notifications to mobile phones. A quote from company description: MobiComp creates value for service providers and operators by finding real solutions to the genuine, everyday challenges their customers face. Our products forge stronger relationships between operators and users, improving customer management capabilities and increasing loyalty and satisfaction. Most importantly, they drive usage of sophisticated data services - creating new, sustainable and scalable revenue streams. MobiComp is privately funded and has been profitable since its first year. Headquartered in Braga, Portugal, it has offices in Lisbon, Spain, the UK, Dubai and Finland. The company is ISO 9001:2000 certified and places a strong emphasis on technical excellence, with more than half of its 40 employees holding an MSc degree or higher.
