Major changes at E-TEN July 30, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. E-TEN has been purchased by Acer so everything should be fine but ... ... but apparently there are some major "internal sales strategy changes" and it could be that some phones will be cancelled. In the view of competition from non-Windows Mobile phones and in the view of dominating position of HTC that is also bringing a lot of innovation (see HTC Touch Diamond with tilt sensor and tiny size, see also Samsung Omnia with huge display and tilt sensor), it looks like smaller Windows Mobile manufacturers will be struggling. Now that E-TEN has been purchased by Acer one could expect even stronger push with releases of new phones, but it looks like the contrary is true and some phones that were supposed to released are not being released yet. Example of failure of E-TEN is the V900 phone with mobile TV (DVB-T) that has not been released on time for Euro 2008 championships. While E-TEN has some interesting phones in pipeline, including the one with dual-SIM support combined with 3.5G and GPS, E-TEN continuously fails to deliver. As of now we cannot recommend E-TEN as a reliable Windows Mobile phone manufacturer.
