XNA Game Studio 3.0 Beta released with support for Zune but still no Windows Mobile September 17, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. So here we go again: Microsoft releases new technology without support for Windows Mobile - even though Microsoft originally claimed, that it will support Windows Mobile too.
How can anybody believe claims of Microsoft emploeyees that Windows Mobile is meant also for consumers, not just professional users, if Microsoft releases game development kit even for Zune portable media player, but not for Windows Mobile? This release represents the beta of Microsoft XNA Game Studio 3.0, which enables hobbyists, academics, and independent game developers to easily create video games for Windows and the Microsoft Zune digital media player using optimized cross-platform gaming libraries based on the .NET Framework. To learn more visit home page of XNA Game Studio 3.0 Beta. Note: version 3.0 beta is not supporting Xbox itself, but only PC and Zune, so if you target Xbox you should stay away from it. Conclusion: Microsoft should prove their claims by deeds, because words are no longer enough... and the deeds convey the following message: Microsoft does not mean it when it says that Windows Mobile targets also consumers.
