Zune music store coming to Windows Mobile - first official confirmation !!! October 03, 2008 [General] | By Edward J. R. Rumors about it were circling here or there but this time it is official and confirmed by CEO of Microsoft himself: Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, in a review for a British publication, said: Now, we built the Zune hardware with the Zune software - and what you’ll see more and more over time is that the Zune software will also be ported to and be more important not just with the hardware but on the PC, on Windows Mobile devices, etc. To learn more, read the original source of this story about Zune for Windows Mobile confirmation. Commentary: Zune consists now of 2 things: Zune player device (it has WiFi, FM radio and full podcasting support, but no touch-screen) and Zune marketplace where users can buy music. Since now both iPhone and Google Android offer music stores, also Windows Mobile must offer it. When it comes to timeframe we don't think that Zune for Windows Mobile is coming before the end of 2009 - the time when the first Windows Mobile phones powered by Windows Mobile 7 will be released.
