The Windows Mobile GPS application recently launched its latest version, 1.1.2. This application uses technology to bring back "common" courtesy. It also uses GPS proactively. Lastly, privacy is respected.

An Oops I’m Late! implementation can allow one to communicate w/others using a variety of methods: SMS/text, email, phone and now Twitter and Facebook. Oops I’m Late! also allows for public or private updates without being distracted while driving. Using a familiar calendar interface like Microsoft Outlook or Yahoo! Zimbra, a user who synchronizes w/their phone can create their messages using appointments in their schedule. When the user is on their way to their destination, the message can be automatically sent or sent based on ETA.

The highlights added, briefly:
  • Twitter and Facebook messaging added across all versions including free, ad-supported
  • Twitter compatible APIs supported such as Laconica. For example, http://army.twit.tv/api
  • Yahoo! support for geocoding w/destination verification using Yahoo! maps
  • Social Network Friends – add Twitter and Facebook friends to send direct, private messages in addition to public status updates
In California, starting January 1, motorists will be banned from sending, writing or reading messages on electronic devices. "When somebody's distracted," said state Sen. Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto), who wrote the new law, SB 28, and the earlier laws, "it puts not just the driver at risk but everybody else in the car and everybody else on the highway." For this reason, we hope you and your loved ones stay undistracted while driving and are mindful of others.

May you always arrive at the right time.
